❄️ How I.C.E. Fest Began — From a Family Gathering to a Community Tradition ❄️Many people know I.C.E. Fest as a huge, family-friendly winter event… but not everyone knows how it all started.It goes back to a Zwilling family tradition called “Adult Christmas.” Each year, after the holidays, the aunts and uncles would get together — rotating homes, playing cards, laughing, and just spending time together.One year, it was Chuck’s turn to host. Instead of another cozy day indoors, he asked his siblings, “Do you want to try something different?”He had seen a wild idea on YouTube — an ice carousel — and since he lived on the lake, he wondered… why not try it?This video is from That first year (2017), when they made a small 54-foot carousel, and it turned into a day full of fun and memories. Fast forward to the next year: no one had claimed hosting duties yet. So Chuck jokingly said, “Should we do it here again and go for a world record this time?”The siblings laughed… and then said, “Sure, why not?”That was in 2018 — and just 10 days before their attempt, something unexpected happened. Word got out. People began reaching out, wanting to stop by, help, donate, and be part of this crazy, wonderful idea.So the family decided:✨ Let’s turn this into something even bigger.✨ Let’s donate anything we receive to a good cause.That first year, they donated $4,385 to Flyer Pride Pack — and that moment changed everything.Afterward, Chuck and Becca began dreaming about what this could become if it grew beyond a family gathering. A real event. A weekend. A community effort. A way to help kids in need. And with lots of family support and effort…In 2019, the first official I.C.E. Fest – Ice Carousel Extravaganza took place as we know it today.But we always say I.C.E. Fest truly began in 2018, the year we made our very first donation to hungry kids.Since then, the event has grown beyond anything we could have imagined — more activities, more sponsors, more donors, more volunteers, and an incredible community that shows up year after year.
